Who We Are

Our Story

We’re four filmmakers from different walks of life who’ve come together to bring “I’m a No-Count” to life. Together, we bring to this project decades of experience in the tech and film industries. We believe that the most powerful stories are often hiding in plain sight.

THE STORY

While working on another film project in Everett, Washington, Joon and Fred discovered an eccentric realtor who once stood at the edge of something electric. In the 60’s, Ty wrote and performed several garage rock songs that fans considered precursors to punk rock. The song “I’m a No-Count” was a raw, defiant protopunk anthem that never broke into the mainstream, but also refused to disappear. Over the years, collectors rediscovered his lost songs; and they traveled far beyond America’s borders, building a devoted cult following in the United States, France, and Germany.

Like many artists, Ty never became famous. Early on, he traded his long hair and leather jacket for a derby hat and cane and built a modest life for himself as the realtor Dennis Wagner. Now in his 80’s and facing his own mortality, Dennis resolves to resurrect a part of himself that never fully lived. His story is not just about what might have been, it’s about what endures. That space between art and survival, between youth and mortality, between identity imposed on us by society and the true essence that lies at the heart of each individual. We follow him as he struggles to play 'one last show' and show his family what his life meant.

This is a story about redemption, second chances, and the possibility that it's never too late to reclaim yourself. In telling Ty's coming of age story, we are also living our own. We're proud to have early support and mentorship from Washington Filmworks, Academy Award winning producer Diane Becker and local documentarian Marq Evans. Their help has helped us build a strong creative and strategic foundation.
